Have you ever heard Refrigerant Gas or we can call it as Freon Gas? This gas is chemical compound which can help some appliances to absorb the lowest temperature. Refrigerant is common for all commercial freezer service because it needs refrigerants gas to work. Most common problem happens in some cooling appliances such as freezer is caused by it is out of refrigerant gas.
Refrigerant gas will work continuously in our cooling appliance once we turn it on. As long as the refrigerant space is in good condition or not leaked, the gas will remain on the tube. The use of refrigerant gas will not reduce as long as it is not leaked. Therefore, you only need to make sure the tube and the pipe are not leaked. If it is leaked, you need to change the pipe or the tube and refill the refrigerator supply.

Is refrigerant harmful?
Refrigerant is a kind of chemical compound that may harm your body if you inhale it for long time. Therefore, commercial freezer service some must wear mask when they have to deal with this. This gas is harmful because can make several bad effect as follow:
- Out of breath
- Irritation
- Gas poisoning
- Heart Failure
- Death
Heart failure and death can be the worst effect if you inhale more amount of refrigerant to your body. Especially for those who have heart attack symptoms and asthma, the gas is really dangerous for them. Therefore, you have to check your home appliances routinely to avoid gas leaking.
Leaked refrigerant is not only harmful for our body, but also harm for our environment. It will cause worst global warming and attenuate earth ozone layer. Global warming is serious issue and will harm our earth. The refrigerant with chemical symbol as CFC or Chlorofluorocarbons takes big impact to our atmosphere. If the ozone layer is getting thinner and thinner, the ice on the pole will melt and all living creatures will feel hotter.
How to select a good refrigerant?
Using refrigerants are harmful if we do not take attentions on its bad effect. Therefore, we must choose the good refrigerant to minimize the effect.
- The good refrigerant must be colorless and odorless. The smell of leaked refrigerant can cause another respiratory disease.
- It must be inflammable and unexplossive. Most refrigerants are used near air conditioning fan which is put outside of the building. Especially in tropic area or in summer season, the sun heat can make everything hot. The refrigerant must be inflammable and unexplossive toward sun heat.
- Just in case leaked happen, the refrigerants must be non-toxic and cause gas poisoning for the people around. However, the leaked must be easily detected so commercial freezer service can fix it as soon as possible and minimize the other bad effect.
- Chemically stable for its composition and does not make any rusted effect to other appliances around.
Types of refrigerant
Currently, there are 3 types of refrigerant mostly used for home appliances.
- R22, is the first ever refrigerant which is produced globally for home appliances. The composition of chlorine is very high and may cause bad effect to environment.
- R32, invented by Japan Company, Daikin, it becomes the most safety refrigerant so far and mostly used by commercial freezer service.
- R410A, it is better than R22 because it does not contain Chlorine which causes global warming.
